The Conference Experience

Getting the most out of this conference involves not just the number of sessions you attend, but your own intention to be fully involved with other participants and the overall conference environment. We’ve called upon some skilled co-creators to help make that easier for you:

Weaving
Two experienced systems thinkers provide weaving and thematic integration throughout the program, framing and contextualizing the sessions to enable deeper learning and understanding:

A researcher and systems educator, Linda Booth Sweeney has a doctorate from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, and is the coauthor of The Systems Thinking Playbook and the author of When a Butterfly Sneezes.

Thomas J. Hurley is currently guiding the global evolution of the World Café and serves as a senior advisor to leaders interested in new organizational forms. He was executive director of the Chaordic Alliance and served for 17 years with the Institute of Noetic Sciences as director of Transformative Learning and Global Community Development. Tom is the author of numerous seminal papers, including “Changing Images 2000” and “Archetypal Practices for Collective Wisdom.”

Graphic Facilitation

Nancy Margulies is one of the pioneers of the World Café and has led workshops around the world for Fortune 500 corporations, community groups, and educators. Her World Café work focuses on responding to global warming beginning at the neighborhood level and moving to increasing levels of scale. The developer of the visual recording methodology called Mindscaping and the author of Mapping Inner Space and Visual Thinking, she will capture the plenary sessions in evocative graphics.

Music

Andy Bryner, a composer currently working on his sixth album, will help create the container for learning by providing piano accompaniment before and after plenary sessions. Andy is known for using physical embodiment learning practices to enhance collaboration and effectiveness in the workplace. He is co-author with Dawna Markova of An Used Intelligence: Physical Thinking for 21st Century Leadership. As head of training for SmartWired, Andy has led pilot projects at four American military bases in Europe to support military parents and their children.
